As a group, we prepared a final list of
the songs that we agreed to make for our music video.
As a group we knew what we were aiming to achieve but not exactly who we were going to achieve it. We therefore focused our ideas more and aimed to be as realistic as possible.
Initially we looked at a variety of genres such as RnB, rap, hip hop and pop. However we concluded that the best genre would be Soft rock/ folk music as it presents a softer more toned down element to a video and it highlights the meanings and message behind the song.
Other genres such as hip hop and rap
may not have effectively illustrated this because the hip hop genre
may only target an audience of that category. Contrarily, classical or soulful
music may have evoked a high element of emotion from the audience which is not
what the group was aiming for.
We compressed our ideas down into
the best 4 songs in relation to our
genre:
Ed
Sheeran – A Team
Pink - Perfect
Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
Mumford & Sons – The Cave
These collections of songs are in
the same genre and we consequently decided a storyline including aspect s from each
of these videos.
However ‘A TEAM’ is the only video shot in black and white which
is what we are aiming for. In addition ‘THE CAVE’
is of the same genre as the other three songs but the storyline is rather
different but is effective in its delivery. We therefore eliminated ‘THE CAVE’
as an option as the storyline is one of the main focuses within a
video and we cannot afford to allow the audience to be misunderstood.
Originally, the group agreed to use Christina
Aguilera ‘BEAUTIFUL’ as the final song.
Initially, my group decided to use
JET 'Are you gonna be my girl' as our final song. Nevertheless, this became a
challenge as the song involved numerous characters that would have found it
hard to be committed and
reliable. ‘BEAUTIFUL’ also involved an intimate homosexual couple which may
have been uncomfortable/ inappropriate for certain viewers and it did not
coincide with our aim and theme.
I put together this presentation to present to the class the an overview of the ideas we would have included in our video with a more focused target audience and research into costume.
