Rihanna 'Talk That Talk' CD

 

The above Rihanna CD is not too basic as the background looks like a newspaper article. I really like this CD because it relates to my Music Video and the song quite well. It relates as my actress comits suicide which is a headline that is usually not shown in the newspapers. In addition the colour filter is in black qand white which shows continuation from the music video which is also in black and white.

There is therefore a link with the digi pack aswell as the fonts are the same and it has the 'TALK THAT TALK RIHANNA' is also on the front cover.

Alicia Keys 'Girl On Fire' CD

 

Like with the Rihanna, this one of Alicia Keys' include the 'AK' makes sure the consumer recognises the product as the AK is also included in the digipack. The AK stands out against the black background. However it is much simpler than the Rihanna CD. In addition it does not give away what songs might on the CD whereas the Rihanna one does.

Adele '21' CD
 

 This album CD is a lot simpler than the rest and it does not link directly with its digipack as the 21 is on the front cover but the background is black and white and not green. It brings a youthful feel to the whole album and possibly helps target a younger group as well as old.

INTITIAL

These images below are just my individual plan of how I wanted the ancillary to be 

HOWEVER we have changed this and made a group decision to use a different style of photos.

This is the initial starting point of how I would have liked my ancillary to be as I would put a smoke effect on the picture to make it look as if she is smoking.

However the group decided to change the ancillary task and make it a joint effort as time is not on our side.

Erase Tool

For the two pictures above the main tool I used on photoshop was the erase tool below to make the background clear and help me focus on the image being created.

Channel Change

I used a black and white filter to change the image from colour to black and white. I did this as it correlates with my research. I used the green channel as the transition was effective and the other channels presented a washed out image.

Colour Fill & Edit

I began by coloured in the bottom of the picture with a dark grey colour using the Brush Tool as the Rihanna picture I looked at showed this. Furthermore I used a light grey filter to fill in the rest of the white so it would be more effective in creating my smoke effect.

How The DigiPacks And Adverts Link

I carried out research intomagazine adverts as I will be making one of my own depending on the front cover I use.

I have specifically looked at women as my front cover will have a woman on it also

and I am also looking at the layout and format of these adverts

to see how they are portrayed and challenge or conform to it,

depending on the specific image it conveys.

 

The Beyonce 'B DAY' Album has the same photo as the advert and the same font on the title. However the featured parts are in black, white and red and are highlighted specifically to attract the audiences attention.

The font and writing is plain and simple possibly to target all age groups and the font shows synergy and shows the audience what they will be getting.

The JLO 'DANCE AGAIN' world tour album is quite bright and sophisticated. The digital image in the poster is also the same as the album cover.

However there is a contrast in the main colours on the front cover of the poster as the blue on the poster could possibly be a mechanism to target male consumers as the purple colour is still rather feminine.

 



 The Alicia Keys GIRL ON FIRE Album also shows the presence of a strong woman. However the colours on the album are darker and less sublte. As my cover is black and white, I will not be using this scheme but the font will be bold and sharp. 

 The research above presents how the synergy in the advert and the front cover allow easy recognition and allow the audience to get a snippet of what will be involved in the main album.

Specific Detail Research

This is the main research for what I would like my ancillary digi pack to look like.

The initial reseach showed aspects that I would like to incorporate into my digi pack.

However this album pack reflects images of a lack of self control and depression resulting in the actress smoking and drinking to escape reality.
